Low Sulfur Mogas Project
Billings, MT

JH Kelly Project Team Vessel and Column Erection Prior to Piping Installation

This clean fuels project for ExxonMobil was done to produce a low sulfur gasoline in order to comply with environmental compliance regulations. The sulfur extraction unit is a grass roots unit located inside the Billings Refinery and was completed in late summer 2003.

The engineering and procurement for the project was performed by MW Kellogg Constructors who also served as construction manager for ExxonMobil. JH Kelly performed the structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation scope of work with direct hire forces, while subcontracting the insulation and fireproofing scope. The transport and heavy lift of the large vessels and reactors was done by AVS/ Mammoet.

Our electrical team installed and connected both the electrical-distribution equipment as well as the power feeders for process equipment; performed instrumentation and controls work; performed heat tracing on piping and vessels; reworked existing operations center control panels and equipment and emergency power systems; installed lighting and cable tray

Special points of interest:
