Our qualified craft professionals are ready to tackle any project, regardless of size or complexity.
The Best Craft In The Business
JH Kelly is built on a foundation of union craftsmanship, continuous improvement through regular training, and an ongoing commitment to workforce development that ensures your project benefits from the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Our highly qualified and experienced workforce is made possible through JH Kelly’s signatory agreements with nine major craft unions, including Boilermakers, Carpenters, Electricians, Ironworkers, Laborers, Millwrights, Plumbers/Pipefitters, Operators, and Sheet Metal Workers. Our famously field-first culture has allowed us to maintain some of the longest average tenure among craft in the industry. But our longstanding partnerships with our union partners also help ensure a steady pipeline of qualified craft professionals, ready to tackle even the most craft-intensive and complex project requirements and adapt to changing labor needs throughout the region.
Our field leadership is also some of the longest tenured in the industry, with General Foremen averaging over 15 years with JH Kelly. Not only does this mean that your project will benefit from their experience, it means that the craft on your project will be led by supervisors with years of immersion in JH Kelly safety, quality, and production methodologies. Additionally, our craft leads and supervisors maintain direct, long-standing relationships with union halls and many serve on apprenticeship and diversity committees, helping to shape the future of the trades. How does this benefit your project? The tenure, experience, and qualifications of our craft and craft leadership ensures that every project we perform benefits from JH Kelly’s established culture of safety, quality, efficiency, inclusion, and respect.
In addition to highly experienced and qualified journey-level craft, we also ensure that apprentice level craft are included in our crews wherever possible. This is part of our commitment to ensure that we help develop our workforce through well-rounded exposure to a variety of scopes of work and work environments. It also ensures that our clients benefit from crew rates that blend the experience and qualifications of seasoned journey-level craft with lower hourly rates of our apprentices.
As much as we lean on our experienced craft and craft leadership, we are equally committed to building the next generation of craft professionals. We actively participate in regional workforce initiatives, high school CTE programs, pre-apprenticeship partnerships, and union training centers. JH Kelly routinely exceeds apprenticeship utilization goals and supports diversity in the trades through targeted recruitment and mentorship programs throughout the region.
Because we use union labor, our entire workforce has either completed a rigorous apprenticeship program that combines on-the-job and classroom training or is in the process of doing so. We also invest in continuous education, requiring annual continuing education for all our craft and providing access to manufacturer-specific and safety training, leadership development, technical and soft skills training as part of a comprehensive program tracked through our cloud-based learning management system. The bottom line is that you can rest assured that your project is delivered by a team that is safe, efficient, and up to date with evolving industry standards.
