Project Description

JH Kelly removed and replaced an existing 750 sf freezer to process frozen shumai at Ajinomoto Frozen Foods facility in Portland, OR. This multi-disciplinary project utilized in-house JH Kelly electricians, plumber/pipefitters, carpenters, ironworkers, and millwrights to perform structural modifications, mechanical and electrical for this project. The project included the removal of the existing freezer, foundation & curbs, insulated metal panel (IMP) walls and doors, concrete floor, subgrade, and underground plumbing. The new construction included modifications to the sub grade, modifications to the structure, new underslab plumbing and connections, foundations, new floor and coatings, curbs, 1,600 sf of new IMP walls and doors, fire protection, roof modifications, and upstream and downstream process equipment setting and connections. Primarily, the process equipment included infeed and outfeed conveyors, shaker, and bagger. In addition to self-performing the majority of the project, JH Kelly also managed subcontractors performing space isolation, refrigeration, insulation, and sheet metal scopes of work. This project was performed in close proximity to three other operating product lines and included facilitating the installation of other process equipment including a steamer.
