Project Description

JH Kelly was contracted to design and build a $300,000,000 capital expenditure, 291,000 square foot French fry facility for Lamb Weston in Hermiston, OR. In addition to the primary facility, the project included a 33 million gallon anaerobic digester with a membrane bioreactor and reverse osmosis water treatment system capable of processing the 1.1 mm gallons of process water used by the plant daily for facility reuse. JH Kelly acted as the Design/Build general contractor responsible for all aspects of design (less process engineering), permitting and AHJ management, site development, civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical installation. Select client OEMs were supported throughout the project (safety, logistics, equipment setting, process interconnect, start-up and commissioning support). Subcontracted scopes included excavation, insulation, membrane roofing, and office finishes.

JH Kelly worked closely with our design partner, POWER Engineers, to maximize the use of modularization and OSM on this project, changing construction sequencing to facilitate the fabrication and installation of a modularized main utility “spine” of the facility that the building was subsequently erected around.

The Project Scope Included:

  • 18,271 CY of concrete
  • 234,290 SF of formwork
  • 4,282 tons of structural steel
