Project Description
This project was for a major expansion to an existing grain receiving and shiploading facility located in Kalama, Washington on the Columbia River. The project added an additional automated rail receiving building that allowed for rolling offload of moving grain cars, a new barge unloading tower, galleries and conveyances to an existing workhouse, a new scale structure, galleries and conveyances to newly constructed shipping silos, as well as a new shiploader and all associated galleries and conveyances. JH Kelly was responsible for all scope elements with the exception of new slip form silos, including new power distribution, MCCs, and dust control system.
JH Kelly self-performed site preparation, concrete, above and below grade process piping, above and below grade electrical, mechanical piping, structural steel, equipment setting, conveyance installation, lighting, controls. JH Kelly utilized in-house detailers, operators, laborers, carpenters, ironworkers, plumbers/pipefitters, millwrights, electricians, and others to complete the scope of work. At peak production over 200 personnel were onsite. The project included over 400,000 employee hours by completion.
