Project Description

JH Kelly was the Design/Build contractor on this project to expand the existing Pocatello Great Western Malting facility owned by the Australian firm, GrainCorp. The $110 million capital expenditure project more than doubled the capacity of the facility from 100,000 tons to 220,000 tons, with JH Kelly completing the majority of the work.

The project included the construction of a 16-vessel steep house, a four-vessel germination structure, a kiln structure housing a 120' diameter kiln vessel, malt storage tanks, and an analysis structure. Additionally, construction included multiple plenum structures, towers, bridges, galleries, conveyors, utility and office buildings, reservoirs, water conditioning facilities, and stormwater collection and treatment facilities. JH Kelly performed site preparation, concrete, above and below grade process piping, above and below grade electrical, tank building and erection, structural steel, equipment setting, lighting, controls. JH Kelly utilized in-house detailers, operators, laborers, carpenters, ironworkers, plumbers/pipefitters, millwrights, electricians, and others to complete the scope of work.
