JH Kelly provided the plumbing and medical gas work scopes for an eight-story addition to Salem Hospital. This new tower brought approximately 400,000 square feet and 200 patient beds to the existing facility. The primary construction challenge was working in an active hospital complex - there is limited lay- down area; tying new systems into existing systems is challenging; and labor and material coordination is key. The new tower connects to the existing hospital through two walkways. It added 18 operating rooms and 200 patient beds to the facility. This project was completed in early 2009.
