Imperium Renewables (formerly Seattle Biodiesel) selected JH Kelly to construct its first 100 million gallons per year biodiesel production plant in Aberdeen, Washington. The plant is the largest biodiesel production facility in the United States. Imperium had successfully operated Seattle Biodiesel, a five million gallon per year plant in the industrial area of Seattle since April 2005, having developed its own proprietary process for refining. JH Kelly started with the 16 million gallons of fuel storage tank farm.
JH Kelly acted as self-performing general contractor on the nation's largest biodiesel plant, providing civil, structural, process piping and electrical work on the Aberdeen plant. The tank farm included 16MM gallons of storage. Imperium has successfully operated Seattle Biodiesel, a five million gallon per year plant in the Industrial Area of Seattle since April 2005, having developed their own proprietary process for refining biodiesel.
