Oregon State University Energy Center

The new Oregon State Energy Center is a cogeneration facility housing two package English boilers, a heat recovery steam generator, a combustion turbine, and a steam turbine generator. The plant generates a nominal 5.5MW of electricity and the HRSG provides saturated steam to the campus while the duel fuel package boilers operate as required at peak demand. JHK assisted with the large equipment setting and was responsible for all small equipment procurement and installation including pumps, tanks, pressure vessels, water treatment and softening. Piping systems included stead, condensate, gas, fuel oil, boiler feedwater, makeup water, and blowdown. The entire project was modeled in 3D to eliminate field problems and expedite pre-fabrication. This project was certified LEED Platinum. JHK provided a rainwater collection and transfer system as well as helped to maintain green building practices included recycled waste and procuring materials within a 200 mile radius.
