SPECIAL FEATURES: 115kV substation, zero injuries, and part of Simpson Tacoma Kraft’s Cogeneration Project

JH Kelly was chosen as general contractor to construct a 115kV substation as part of Simpson Tacoma Kraft’s Cogeneration Project. The scope of work included mass excavation, 4” pin pile, concrete foundations, underground conduit, grounding, steel structures, control building, security fencing, structural backfill, and yard rock.

The scope was later expanded to include the transformer foundation, oil containment, and drilled foundations for five power poles. Key subcontractors included McDowell Pile King, Terry Lee Excavation, Pacer Steel, and DMI Drilling.

JH Kelly worked directly with Tacoma Public Utilities who performed all of the construction inspections and high voltage line work. All work was completed on schedule with the highest quality work and with zero injuries.
