Legacy Mt. Hood Medical Center – Emergency Room Expansion

An emergency department expansion intended to slash wait times and improve care at Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center was constructed by Hoffman Construction and JH Kelly.  This $18 million expansion doubled the size of the previous emergency department, which had only 15 rooms.  JH Kelly’s contract award was $2 million and the duration of the project was 24 months.

Almost 45,000 patients are treated in the hospital’s emergency department each year, making it the eighth-busiest in the state.

Other elements of the project include new parking, indirect lighting in patient rooms, radiant floor heating in the waiting area and a large drop-off area with a glass canopy. It will also include a children’s area with separate waiting rooms and special pediatric equipment.

JH Kelly provided all HVAC piping, plumbing, ductwork and medical gas installation. This includes the use of our BIM detailers and extensive pre-fabrication of piping, plumbing assemblies and various other modules.
