Knight Cancer Research Building for OHSU

Portland, OR

JH Kelly was hired to provide wet-side HVAC mechanical and plumbing services on a new cancer research center for Oregon Health Sciences University in the South Waterfront area.

The project was designed to be a world-class research & development facility aimed at a number of different forms of cancer.  Phil Knight of Nike put forth a large fundraising goal to the corporations and individuals of Oregon.  Their $1 Billion dollar goal was met, and the Knight Cancer Research Building came to life.

Working under a joint-venture, Andersen-McCarthy, the mechanical engineer of record was PAE and the architect was SRG Partnership.  The contract type was Design-Assist, Lump Sum through and Integrated Project Delivery approach.  While co-locating, JH Kelly projects team rigorously captured an agreed upon GMP and proceeded into detailed design.

This project involves and innovative owner in OHSU and a team of construction professionals that identify with the core mission of the project – curing cancer.
