JH Kelly To Construct Klickitat PUD HW Hill Landfill Gas Generation Expansion Project

The new project will also add a state-of-the-art cleaning and compression facility which cleans the “dirty” landfill gas to a level better than natural gas and prepares it for efficient use in the CTGs.

JH Kelly, LLC announced today that it was selected as the general contractor for the Klickitat PUD H.W. Hill Landfill Gas Generation Expansion project. JH Kelly will self-perform the majority of the work including: all mechanical equipment installation (including turbine assembly); piping installation; fire suppression systems; water treatment; electrical and instrumentation.

The power plant currently has five reciprocating piston engines which generate up to 10.5 MW. The new project will add two landfill gas (LFG) fueled combustion turbine generators (CTGs), two heat recovery system steam generators (HRSG), and one steam turbine generator (STG). The CTGs will be rated at 10.2 MW nominal output each and the HRSGs will be rated at 32,800 pounds/hour of steam each at 650psi and 750 degrees farenheit. The STG will be rated at 6 MW nominal output and receive the total steam flow from both HRSGs. The STG will exhaust to the air cooled condenser. The new project will also add a state-of-the-art cleaning and compression facility which cleans the “dirty” landfill gas to a level better than natural gas and prepares it for efficient use in the CTGs.

The project is scheduled for completion in June 2010.
