JH Kelly, LLC announced today that it has been selected by Shell Global Solutions US and CH2M Hill as the Mechanical General Contractor for the Benzene Reduction Unit at the Shell Puget Sound Refinery located in Anacortes, Washington. JH Kelly will self-perform the civil, structural, mechanical, piping and instrumentation work scopes in both the ISBL and OSBL portions of the project. This is an 18-month project scheduled for completion in early 2011 to meet the EPA’s most recent clean fuels regulations (MSAT II) that further reduce benzene to less than 0.62% (on an annual basis) in all U.S. gasoline by 2011.

“Shell’s Puget Sound Refinery is a key customer for JH Kelly. We are proud that Shell has the confidence in our team to safely construct this project,” said Mason Evans, JH Kelly president.
