Steel Erection of New Tanks

JH Kelly acted as the self performing General Contractor in providing Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical and Boilermaker services to the Weyerhaeuser Company to construct it’s new pulp mill located in Longview, Washington. The project was awarded to JH Kelly on a lump sum basis for over $75 MM and took over 18 months to construct. JH Kelly’s crews worked over 1.5 MM man-hours without a lost time injury on the project.

JH Kelly erected over 15 tanks on the project, 11 of them being stainless steel. Tank sizes ranges from 16'-28' in diameter and 16'-110' high, with some dome and cone tops and false bottoms. At the project peak, JH Kelly had over 225 craftspeople on the project with boilermaker manpower peaking at 35 craftsmen.
