JH Kelly provided the shell and core mechanical services for this 16-story office building. The Center for Health and Healing houses eight floors of outpatient medical practices, four floors of educational offices and research laboratories and a three-story wellness center. JHK installed the main risers for all services to each floor, valved and capped for connection by the tenant improvement contractor. This includes air handling units, chillers, boilers (steam and hot water heating), pumps, heat exchanges, medical gas manifolds, air compressors and vacuum pumps.

This project received LEED Platinum certification. Sustainable design features include a bio reactor to process all sanitary waste on site, a reclaimed water recovery system from the bio reactor to flush toilets, rain water collection system for irrigation, heat recovery system to recover exhaust heat for preheating makeup air, solar heating system for preheating domestic hot water, radiant heat and eco roofs. The building will be 61% more energy efficient than code and cost 10% less than a conventional mechanical and electrical budget.

Special points of interest:
  • LEED Platinum project (the 15th in the nation, largest and most complex)
  • 400,000 square feet
