PABCO Paper Company Press Section Rebuild
Vernon, CA

Completed Press Section Installation

In September 2004, JH Kelly successfully removed and replaced the press section at PABCO Paper Company in Vernon, CA. The press section was provided by VAS Paper Machinery, an Italian equipment supplier. JH Kelly worked directly with VAS to install the new equipment and ensure proper compatibility with the existing 1940s era Beloit dryer section. The new press section includes a jumbo press that was installed using a special cart and rigging, both supplied by VAS.

While the millwrights concentrated on equipment installation, pipe fitters installed separators, high and low pressure shower lines, hydraulic tubing and vacuum lines. Eighteen millwrights worked two 12 hour shifts and six pipe fitters worked one 12 hour shift per day.

Due to a highly skilled and focused crew, JH Kelly was able to complete the project ahead of schedule, ahead of budget and without injury.
