The JH Kelly School of Construction was established in 1996 to fulfill our belief that the more tools you give your employees, the better for all—and that the most powerful tool of all is knowledge.

Personal Growth. Establishment of the School evolved out of our commitment to continual improvement. It enables our management and craftspeople to better understand substantive career issues, including union dealings, to estimating, to proprietary JH Kelly methodology. By developing our own curriculum, we’re able to focus on those areas most relevant to our model of construction practices.

And the additional training provides employees opportunity for growth within our company as well. Classes are after work hours and average two teachers—usually senior JH Kelly employees—and fifteen students.

Teamwork. The School of Construction showcases the interaction, which is representative of our corporate culture. From development of curriculum through the teaching and learning process, we emphasize the benefits of teamwork, open dialogue and participation. And many of our people take advantage of cross training—estimators taking a contracts class, or vice versa—to gain a better "big picture" understanding of process. Additionally, the School provides an opportunity for people from throughout our company to interact face-to-face, developing a stronger sense of team and company spirit.
