JH Kelly Awarded Second Phase of Georgia-Pacific's Tissue Machine Project

Longview, WA – JH Kelly was recently awarded a construction contract to erect the structural steel for Georgia Pacific’s new  #6 Tissue Machine Installation at their Wauna Facility.

The structural steel project team will erect the steel for two new buildings that will eventually house the #6 Tissue Machine and provide storage of tissue rolls produced.  Our estimating team worked hard to secure this second package of a multiple-package project and they continue to plan and estimate the next phases of the project which in time may lead to the equipment erection, piping, instrumentation and electrical phases.

The #6 Tissue Machine is a Metso “Through Air Dryer” or TAD Machine that utilizes the newest technology in tissue making and provides a competitive advantage to Georgia-Pacific.  It is capable of producing 16 foot diameter rolls and is only the second machine of this type to be installed in the Northwest.

Crews are currently on site completing the civil portion of the project.  The structural steel work will begin in February and should last until May.  An average of 50 crewmembers will be onsite with roughly 110,000 manhours.
