Crews Begin Work on Microchip's HFT-AWN System Upgrade

Vancouver, WA – JH Kelly crews began work at Microchip Technology’s (Nasdaq: MCHP) new facility in Gresham, OR utilizing both our mechanical and electrical capabilities. Microchip’s "HFT-AWN System Upgrade” (or an acid waste treatment & neutralization project) ensures that the former Fujitsu facility will be fully functional upon completion.

The scope of the project includes civil, structural, I&C (instruments and controls), electrical power and lighting, piping and equipment setting.

This project award was due in great part to hard work by our estimating team. They took the time to fill in a few "holes" in the design package, and Microchip took notice of this. The reward for this diligent effort was to award the entire package to JHK.

Microchip is a fairly new customer to JH Kelly. Last year the Chandler, AZ-based company purchased Fujitsu's Gresham, OR facility and immediately began plans to get the idle plant up and running. In September 2002, JH Kelly was invited to perform the first tool install at Microchip’s Fab 4-1 & 4-2 (formerly known as Fujitsu Fab 1 & Fab 2).

“We know that JH Kelly’s philosophies are a perfect fit for Microchip,” said Steve Gragg, Project Manager. “Their beliefs in trust, safety, quality, and integrity all mirror our corporate beliefs. With this project, we have an opportunity to forge a long-term partnership with Microchip. And we are looking forward to doing so.”

JH Kelly, including its electrical division Kelly Electric Group, is a fourth generation, family owned construction company specializing in process industries and delivering bottom line value to a select group of customers that share our core beliefs of safety, quality, and business integrity. As one of the largest mechanical contractors in the country, JH Kelly serves customers in the refining, petrochemical, pulp & paper, power, manufacturing, and high tech industries. JH Kelly has six full-service offices located around the country and is ranked 154th on ENR’s Top 400 Contractors List and ranked 10th largest Mechanical Contractor in the nation.
